Beginners Tai Chi & Qigong – Weekly Class

Join me for a new weekly beginners Tai Chi class, designed to help you move with greater ease, balance, and awareness. Each session includes a gentle full-body warm-up, flowing qigong exercises, and step-by-step instruction in beginner Tai Chi movements — ideal for complete beginners as well as those wishing to deepen their existing practice.

This class offers a welcoming, supportive environment where you can build confidence, release tension, and discover the many benefits of mindful movement.

About Qigong and Tai Chi

Qigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) combines gentle movement, breath, and focused intention to cultivate and balance your body’s energy, or qi (“chee”). It’s a centuries-old practice known for promoting relaxation, vitality, balance, and inner calm.

Tai Chi evolved from qigong and traditional martial arts. Often described as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi involves a sequence of slow, flowing movements that enhance coordination, flexibility, balance, and focus.

Health Benefits

Regular practice of qigong and Tai Chi has been shown to:

  • Improve balance and stability
  • Increase flexibility and joint mobility
  • Support better posture and body awareness
  • Calm the mind and reduce stress
  • Boost circulation and overall wellbeing

These practices are gentle yet powerful ways to care for both body and mind — suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Seated Options & Accessibility

This class is designed to be inclusive and adaptable.

All movements can be modified, and you are welcome to practise seated for part or all of the session if that feels more comfortable for you. Chairs are available, and I offer clear guidance so that those with mobility challenges, balance concerns, recovering injuries, or lower energy levels can still enjoy the full benefits of the practice.

Many people find that seated Tai Chi and qigong are just as powerful for improving circulation, coordination, breath awareness, and mental calm. You are always encouraged to work at your own pace and honour your body.

Whether you choose to stand, sit, or move between the two, you will be fully supported throughout.

Location and Timing

Tuesdays, 10am–11am (please arrive 5 minutes early)
Parochial Hall, 28 High Street, Kenilworth CV8 1LZ

Parking is free for two hours at the nearby Abbey Fields car park. You must obtain a ticket from the machine and display it, or you risk a fine. Take the walking path to the left of the church towards the High Street. The hall is diagonally across the High Street to the right, approximately a two-minute walk from the car park.

My Training

I continue to deepen my practice through intensive training with respected teachers and schools, including Shi Heng Yi and Shi Heng Zuan of Shaolin Temple Europe, Grandmaster Jiang Yu Shan, Shifu Shi Yanjun of Shaolin Temple Yunnan, the British Tai Chi Academy, and currently the Deyin Taijiquan Institute, where I am completing my teacher qualification. My approach is rooted in steady, long‑term study, a genuine passion for these arts, and a deep desire to keep learning and to pass them on with clarity and care.
